AURUM PROCESS TECHNOLOGY S.L. has an Integrated Management System, with which it manages the quality and environment of its activity, the design and manufacture of industrial machinery and production processes for companies in different sectors such as food, environment, industry or pharmacy, in accordance with the requirements of the reference standards ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015. We are committed to the protection of the environment and sustainability. Our main objective is to minimise our environmental impact by implementing sustainable practices in all our operations. This report aims to communicate the environmental performance of the company in the last year to the different stakeholders of the organisation by showing the achievements and environmental concerns of the organisation.

ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS

During 2023, we have identified and assessed the environmental aspects associated with our operations, products and services. This process allows us to better understand how our activities affect the environment and help us to take proactive measures to reduce and eliminate any negative impact. The main environmental aspects: – Electrical energy consumption in our production facilities and offices; – Energy and fossil fuel consumption in the company boiler; – Fossil fuel consumption for the tanks of company vehicles; – Water consumption in production processes, testing, cleaning and general operations; – Water consumption in production, testing, cleaning and general operations.
– Atmospheric emissions of CO2, NO2 and SO2 during production and transport of goods – Generation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste during production – Discharge of waste water or polluting industrial and sanitary products – Noise from assemblies and equipment.
– Carbon footprint, all of which were assessed in normal, abnormal and emergency situations. Fuel consumption for vehicle journeys, consumption of resources and atmospheric emissions from the boiler and emergency situations of fires, spills or leaks from air conditioning equipment were significant.

QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECTIVES

Quality and environmental objectives were defined for the year 2023: – Decrease in energy consumption: to achieve this objective, changes were made to the lighting in the warehouses that make up Aurum Process Technology S.L., resulting in an increase due to the increase in the number of productions carried out in our pilot plant due to the high demand from our clients. Reduction of components and parts reclaimed from suppliers: the quality control procedure is reviewed, improved and adapted to new, more environmentally friendly materials with the aim of reducing the depletion of natural resources.
– Increase in annual turnover: during 2023, the company’s turnover will increase by 18%. – Reduction in customer complaints: during 2023, customer complaints will be reduced, always seeking to improve the products we manufacture in order to achieve 100% satisfaction.

QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL INDICATORS

As in previous years, numerous quality and environmental indicators have been defined covering many of the processes defined in our management system. All indicators are monitored on an effective quarterly basis to monitor the targets we are achieving in order to continuously improve our operations. Any deviations that may arise are immediately addressed by implementing corrective and preventive action plans. We have the indicators divided into 4 sections and these in turn are divided into sub-processes so that they can be well defined. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT – Audits: a favourable result is obtained as no non-conformities are obtained.
– Measurement of satisfaction: 2 points are studied that give an overall view of customer satisfaction and brand recognition. o Satisfaction surveys: overall customer satisfaction is increased by 18.5%, highlighting the technical attention in the start-up and quality of our after-sales service.

No. of new customers: this is a key indicator to be able to verify brand recognition. There is an increase of 71%, which means that the company is achieving a position in a highly competitive sector. o Environmental controls: It is essential to maintain rigorous control over environmental resources in order to continuously improve and move towards the goal of reducing the environmental impact generated by the industry.
o Consumption of natural resources: this indicator is aligned with one of the targets set for 2023, and a general increase in all consumption has been observed due to the significant increase in pilot plant testing, as well as quality control testing of the equipment we design and manufacture, among other factors.
o Natural resource costs: as consumption increases, costs are increased, but more sustainable alternatives are being sought to achieve a decrease in natural resource consumption costs. o Non-hazardous waste generation: there has been a decrease in waste generation thanks to the implementation of a reuse philosophy.

o Hazardous waste generation: a better control of this waste has been implemented and the cleaning processes have been optimised, reducing the consumption of hazardous chemicals. o Carbon footprint: for the first time in Aurum Process Technology S.L., the calculation of the carbon footprint has been carried out and a reduction in emissions has been observed. Additional measures will be implemented to further reduce these emissions. o Pilot plant productions: there has been an increase, but its management and everything related to productions will be improved in order to offer our customers an experience to improve the compression and scope of the range of products manufactured.

RESOURCES

– Human resources: one of the key pillars for the operation and growth of the company are its employees. For this reason, we carry out exhaustive monitoring of the training carried out, with the aim of increasing their specialisation and we manage the growth of the company with new hires. o Hiring rate: there is a 9% increase in Aurum’s workforce due to the increase in work. o Training: we double the training of our workers so that their skills can cover more fields and offer better solutions to clients or in internal processes.

COMMERCIAL

– Turnover and management of offers: used to check the growth of the company and its positioning in the market. o Total turnover: there is an increase of 18% compared to 2022 due to the signing of more contracts with new customers. o Acceptance of quotes: an increase in the acceptance of quotes by customers has been achieved thanks to the improvement in the aspects included in the offers sent.

o Customer visits: during 2023, there has been an increase in customer visits to verify the performance of Aurum’s technology with their prescriptions and procedures. o Ratio of incidents to turnover: a reduction can be observed compared to the previous year. o Customer incidents: there is a decrease in claims.

PURCHASING

– Procurement of materials: It has a direct implication on the quality of the products we manufacture in Aurum, therefore, we seek to improve these indicators in order to offer more complex solutions, minimising delays and incidents. o Purchasing costs from suppliers: a greater volume of purchases has been recorded due to the manufacture of a greater number of pieces of equipment.
o Supplier incidents: it is verified that there has been an increase in complaints due to the implementation of the new quality control management system. o Ratio of incidents in purchases: with this indicator it is possible to obtain an overall view of the complaints made according to the number of orders placed, obtaining a very positive balance, with a reduction of 1.7 points with respect to 2022.

the health and safety of our employees, as well as the protection of the environment, are one of our top priorities. In order to guarantee a quick and efficient response in emergency situations, we have developed and updated our current emergency plans. They are designed to address all types of potential incidents and ensure that everyone involved knows what to do and how to act in the event of a crisis. In 2023, we conducted chemical and toxic spill drills. In addition, we also provided courses on occupational risk prevention and the use of fire extinguishers. The second drill focused on reducing emergency response and response time. We review and update our emergency plans annually or when facilities are modified or new emergencies arise. This ensures that our procedures are always aligned with current best practices and regulations. There have been no environmental or safety emergencies this year.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

This section details the investments made throughout the year 2023, with the intention of preventing pollution, preserving natural resources, minimising environmental impact and improving the sustainability of the company.
