Industry 4.0 in the planning of the production and distribution of food

During the year 2017 Aurum Process Technology has developed a project for the production and distribution of food, in order to respond to the needs of these systems through high efficiency equipment. In this line we worked with the possibility of relating the physical world to the digital world, providing value in the supply chain, through the incorporation of technologies known as Industry 4.0.

The project is aimed at providing connectivity to prepared food production equipment. This connectivity is based on the implementation of two systems: a main one, located in the production center. The second system consists of machines installed in distribution centers. This secondary system ensures that the devices send information to the central system, to know the distribution made, consumption of raw materials and energy consumption.

The information from the distribution centers is used to plan the activity of the preparation center, so that the necessary raw materials are collected and prepared in the appropriate form and quantity, in order to avoid waste of food.

The incorporation of this connectivity will provide the following operational advantages:

  • It will allow working in real time to the entire production chain, reacting to deviations quickly.
  • The planning of the daily menus will be done centrally.

The raw materials that will be used will be fresh products with a very short shelf life, so a just-in-time type production will be used, and with local producers.
